Another dose of Vintage M.A.S.K (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand)
After my first post of my vintage M.A.S.K collection, here is another dose of them.
This round I will introduce more of my V.E.N.O.M (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem) vehicles.
V.E.N.O.M, a criminal organization led by Miles Mayhem was the arch enemy of M.A.S.K (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) led by Matt Trakker.
Vampire (series 2)
Vampire was my second and last vehicle I got in my childhood (after Gator).
It was from the 2nd series that came out around 1986.
It's a touring motorcycle which turns into a jet.
Vampire as a touring cycle
Transforms into a turbo jet!
The driver of Vampire was Floyd "Birdman" Malloy and he uses his Buckshot mask to launch ball bearings.
Floyd was the leader of an unnamed biker gang, expert street fighter, and convicted forgery artist.
I also noticed that V.E.N.O.M operatives do not have any job outside of V.E.N.O.M unlike their M.A.S.K counterpart. I guess doing evil is a full time job!
Piranha (series 1)
I always loved the design and color of Piranha. It was from series 1 and one of the main stay vehicle in the cartoon series. I do think Piranha was one of the more popular V.E.N.O.M vehicle aside from Switchblade.
Piranha was a motorcycle with a releasable sidecar which became a submarine.
Piranha in battle mode!
Piranha is driven by Sly "Wrecker" Rax.
A con man, espionage artist, and weapons expert.
His Stiletto mask shoots armor-piercing harpoons.
I always loved in the cartoon where Sly, in his slang says "Stiletto fire."
Jackhammer (series 1)
Another favorite series 1 V.E.N.O.M vehicle.
Jackhammer is a black Ford Bronco which turns into an assault vehicle with lots of firepower. One of a few vehicles that actually followed after a real car.
Like Piranha, Jackhammer was a main stay in the cartoon series.
Jackhammer as a Ford Bronco
Assault Vehicle!
Cliff "Blaster" Dagger was the driver of Jackhammer.
The eyepatch-wearing member of V.E.N.O.M. who is an expert in demolitions and bare-knuckle brawling. He is also a convicted arsonist
He uses the Torch mask which is basically a flamethrower!
Iguana (series 3)
Iguana was a so-so vehicle. Rather uninteresting both in normal mode and battle mode.
In the normal mode, it was an off-road vehicle which turns into a mobile buzz-saw platform.
Battle Mode!
Iguana was driven by Lester "The Lizard" Sludge.
A smarmy henchman with an annoying signature laugh. He almost succeeds in murdering Matt Trakker in "When Eagles Dare."
His Mudslinger mask flings mud at the enemy...I guess he got a bad deal on his mask!
Ok enough of the bad guys.
Let's talk a little bit on the good guys.
And it does not come any more good than Thunderhawk!
Thunderhawk (series 1)
Thunderhawk is a red Chevrolet Camaro, which can transform into a gull-winged fighter jet plane.
As much as I like Thunderhawk, I do think the battle mode was a bit silly. Come on, opening the door and looking at wings does not make it a cool jet plane.
Thunderhawk was from a friend and it is pretty beat up.
However, it still looks cool displayed!
Open the door...Jet Mode!
Matt "Hunter" Trakker was the driver of Thunderhawk and also the leader of M.A.S.K.
He was a multi-millionaire philanthropist. and one of the creators of the original M.A.S.K. team. Sounds like a certain multi-millionaire philanthropist...minus the playboy.
Rhino (series 1)
This is the vehicle that I am most excited about mainly because it just came in the mail and also it is one bad ass truck!
Rhino is a Kenworth semi tractor that converts into a mobile defense platform and command center.
I always wanted it as a kid but never got it...now I have it...hahahaha.
Transforms to a mobile defense platform and command center!
Optimus Prime would have been proud!
Inside the Command Center and missile luncher!
The All Terrain vehicle that snaps off the rear of the tractor frame.
Rhino is driven by 2 drivers. Matt "Hunter" Trakker & Bruce "Magic" Sato.
Unfortunately my Rhino only came with Bruce and I am on the look out for Matt and his Ultra-Flash mask.
Bruce was a Mechanical engineer and design specialist who serves as Matt Trakker's second-in-command. Bruce Sato is of Japanese origin and his occupation was a toy designer. He often talks in Confucian riddles that only Matt Trakker seems to understand.
His mask is Lifter which creates an anti-gravity field.
That's about all my M.A.S.K collection.
Such sweet childhood memories!
Hoping to add Switchblade, Stinger, Raven and Manta into my collection!
