1:72 scale British & French Tanks

At least in Singapore, it is pretty hard to find 1:72 scale WW2 tanks of other countries besides Germany,Russia and US. We get countless versions of the Tiger, Panther, Sherman and T-34 tanks but I don't see much tanks from Japan, France and Britain. I do admit that tanks from these countries are not as famous or powerful as the Tigers and Shermans but I do like the design and shape of these tanks. You can view my other WW2 tanks from the US and Russia here.

M3 Grant Medium Tank
Technically this is a US designed tank used by the British in North Africa. In Britain the tank was called "General Lee", named after General Robert E. Lee. Its modified version built to British specification, with a new turret, was called "General Grant", named after General Ulysses S. Grant.

British M3 Grant Medium Tank - North Africa, 1942 by Forces of Valor
One thing I like about Forces of Valor tanks is that the metal content is high and it feels heavy when carried. I also like the fact that they include a figure (usually the tank commander) along with it.
I think that Forces of Valor tend to go overboard with their weathering but for this tank I think the paint ops is good.
The only thing I don't like about this tank is the rolled up canvas at the side of the tank. It looks out of place and the sculpting is bad. The paint ops for the canvas is bad and again too much weathering...just had to do it right Forces of Valor!!!

Char B1
The Char B1 was a French heavy tank manufactured before the Second World War.
The Char B1 was a specialised heavy break-through vehicle, originally conceived as a self-propelled gun with a 75 mm howitzer in the hull; later a 47 mm gun in a turret was added, to allow it to function also as a Char de Bataille, a "battle tank" fighting enemy armour, equipping the armoured divisions of the Infantry Arm.
During the early stage of the war, the Char B1 could match with German armour in terms of direct confrontation but a slow speed and high fuel consumption made it ill-adapted for a war that required movement.

Char B1, 3e DCR, France, May 1940 by Easy Model
The great thing about tanks from Easy Model is the price. They are much lower in price as compared to Forces of Valor and Dragon because they have no metal content at all. Fully made of plastic. Seriously, I can live with that.
I think the attention to details and paint ops are comparable to the other companies. For that price point and with good detailing and paint ops, I tend to get tanks from Easy Model. Easy Model also have a good variety of tanks which is a super bonus!

Any idea why Char B1, 3e DCR has such a little cannon barrel?

Not too sure but my guess is because it has a 47mm gun which is quite small...a Sherman has a 75mm gun

Hi thanks for visiting my blog. I usually get my 1/72 tanks (Easy Model) from Miniature hobby at Vivo City.
Timemachine at #01-88 Millenia Walk has a good variety of Dragon armor but I think it is pretty expensive.
