NECA ED-209 Robocop

RoboCop is a 1987 American science fiction action film.
Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy who is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a cyborg law enforcer known as RoboCop.

Many toy companies have produced toys from the RoboCop movies given its cult following.
From 12" figures from Hot Toys to 6" figures from Mcfarlane.
Of course, Robocop usually takes center stage and most of the figures produced are of RoboCop.
However another popular figure that we collectors who like to have is the Enforcement Droid Series 209, or ED-209.
Hot Toys has produced this figure before and there is another on the way. If you have the space and cash, Hot Toys seldom disappoint. However, if you have neither, NECA's version is another good option.

I like the packaging.
Even though it does not have a window and you can't see the figure inside but the picture on the front of the box is awesome and eye catching.
There are also pictures on the other 3 sides of the box, done to catch the buyer's attention!
Not just a pretty box, it also serves its primary purpose of protecting the figure inside.

In terms of sculpting, NECA has been doing well on all their licences.
ED-209 is no different. The sculpting and details are awesome.
Every screw, bolt, wire and buttons are there. Even the stickers are there.
The only gripe I have is the paint ops. There are sporadic paint slop. Not major but minor ones.
I took almost 15 mins in the shop opening the boxes and trying to find a  good piece.
In the end, my "good piece" also had a little smudge at the back.
It's just a little gripe.

NECA has improved leaps and bounds in terms of articulation.
ED-209 does not have the normal articulation of a human figure but I think it has articulations in the right places for good poses.
In the movie, ED-209 already has limited articulation and can't even walk down stairs!

Overall, a very good piece.
Every Robocop fan or even pop culture fan needs an ED-209 in their collection.
