Big Bug!

B is for Bugs...and I am talking about Big Bugs.

In the movie "Starship Troopers", mankind is at war with an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs". The grunts of the bug's army are the Warrior Bugs!
These bad boys (hey! more words starting with B!)are four-legged bugs approximately two to three meters long. They are agile and fast and very aggressive.
These bugs utilize a powerful pincer-like mandible that is capable of crushing rock, metal and severing limbs as a means of attack.

I got this Warrior Bug many years ago in a flea market.
If I am not wrong, the toy was made by Galoob and stands around 8".
The sculpt of the bug is pretty good and there are attempts to add details and texture on the body of the bug.
The paint ops is pretty good and clean. It also looks pretty accurate when compared to the movies' screen shot.
There is articulation where the head meets the body. The legs are also articulated. The two front pincer-like mandible are also movable.
The toy is actually an electronic toy and when you press a button at the top of its head, sounds can be activated. Unfortunately, when I bought the toy, the sound activation was already not working.

Overall, a pretty cool toy to display as the warrior bugs did leave a lasting impression on me as compared to the other bugs.

I love the movie and this is a rare toy to be found in Singapore. My only toy from Starship Troopers is the mechanic suit from part 3.

i remember the 2 movies of Starship Troopers (from the same director of Robocop: Paul Verhoeven) & they have that sarcastic, even cynical point of view bout our "modern life" & i understand why they became cult classics... as for the figure itself, i find it quite attractive, very well done & colorful (unlike the movie version)... & Galoop, is a great surprise, i only knew bout its Micromachines... "B"ery, "B"ery nice figure !!! Adrian =O
