L is for Little Plastic Man.
Yup that's the name of my blog.
The obvious reason why I chose this name is because of what I collect.
Yes...Little Plastic Man (action figures)...ok sometimes it may be an Alien or Monster...well you get the picture.
An action figure is a poseable character figurine, made mostly of plastic and often based upon characters from a movie, comic book, video game, or television program.
The action figure was coined by Hasbro when they started to market their Action Man or GI Joe toy line in the 60s for boys who did not want to be seen playing with dolls. They stood around 12 inch.
Kenner popularised the 3.75 inch tall figures through the Star Wars line.
Later on, the 6 inch figures became popular with toy lines like Master of the Universe, Silver Hawks and Thundercats.
Nowadays, the 3.75 inch figures have made a comeback and are the choice size for toy makers. The recent movie toy lines like Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America are all 3.75 inch.
I mainly collect 12 inch figures now due to better articulation, sculpting and changeable clothes.
No matter what is the size of the figure, they are all my Little Plastic Man!
I am currently taking part in the A to Z challenge and here are the entries so far: A / B / C / D / E / F / G / H / I / J / K
