Meet thy Maker

It is about time we give some air time to the companies who give us toys to collect in the first place.
Yes. Sometimes they may seem like corporate bloodsuckers out to earn your hard earned money with all those inflated toy prices but at the end of the day I still buy from them to feed my passion.

H is for Hasbro, one of the largest toy makers in the world.

Hasbro initially started out as Hassenfeld Brothers and was a textile remnant company, later expanding into pencil cases and school supplies.
It was only in 1940s when they produced their first toys, doctor and nurse kits.

Their first toy hit was Mr. Potato Head, which the company purchased from inventor George Lerner in 1952.
Fast forward a few years, they came out with the GI Joe line or Action Man to capture the market for boys who did not want to be seen playing with dolls.

Hasbro has acquired many companies, hence making them one of the largest toy makers with many famous toy lines.
One of their more famous subsidiary is Kenner (at least to me), the company behind the success of the Star Wars, Play-Doh, Super Powers, M.A.S.K., Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears.
Hasbro also produced the Little Pony toy line.

Hasbro is also a game producer. By acquiring the Milton Bradley Company, they brought in games like The Game of Life, Candy Land, Twister, Chutes and Ladders and Yahtzee under them.

Some of Hasbro's popular games and toys have been around for so long that they have become pop culture icons!

I am currently taking part in the A to Z challenge and here are the entries so far: A / B / C / D / E / F / G
