NECA Slimer & Stay Puff / Joyride Ecto 1 Ghostbusters

If there is something strange in the neighbourhood...Who you gonna call?...GHOSTBUSTERS!

Ghostbusters is a 1984 horror/comedy film. The film was produced and directed by Ivan Reitman and stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and Ernie Hudson. The film was a success and went on to gross $229.2 million at the box office, making it the second highest-grossing film of 1984.
The film is about three New York City parapsychologists who decided to be ghost exterminators. The original 3 ghostbusters were Drs. Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), Raymond "Ray" Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Peter Venkman (Bill Murray).
There was a sequel to the movie, Ghostbusters II, but it was not as good as the first one.

Joyride Ecto 1
Every hero needs something to ride in. Batman has his batmobile and the Ghostbusters have their Ecto 1 (Ectomobile). Ecto 1 is actually a 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor Limo/ Ambulance Conversion.
Joyride produced a 1:21 scale die cast replica of the Ecto 1. The vehicle looks good with its glossy white paint job and it's quite heavy when carried (very sturdy feel). The detailing is pretty good and looks movie accurate. I love the license plate which has the picture of the Statue of Liberty!
The hood can be opened to reveal the engine, complete with plastic spark plug wires. The rear door opens about halfway and inside it has a laboratory with lots of dials, switches and gadgets (which are stickers). The 2 front doors can also be opened.
Ecto 1 comes with four electronics components that have to be fixed on the roof (idiot proof) and a little rubber Slimer figure (it is pretty awful hence I did not take any photos of the Slimer).

Overall a nice item to display.

NECA Slimer
Slimer is a translucent green blob creature, with two skinny arms, no feet, and several chins. Slimer’s personality is one of gluttony and exists only to eat. Slimer appears in both Ghostbusters films.
I think NECA did a good job in Slimer. The essence of Slimer is captured in the sculpt. The folds on Slimer are especially well done.
Comparing the photos, I think the flaws would be that the cheeks of Slimer should be higher, more at eye level and the top of the head should be smaller and more pointy.
I especially like the paint job (it even glows in the dark). The darker green colour used for the folds highlight them even more. The paint job on the mouth and teeth are especially well done. As Slimer does not have any feet, a green translucent stand (representing slime) is needed for it to be displayed. I sometimes wonder how the figure would turn out if they had used the same material for the stand on the whole figure...Hmmm.
The figure comes with a lot of food accessories and I guess it makes sense.
Nothing much in articulation as there is really only one good pose for Slimer.

Overall, I like this figure very much. It looks good and I am glad that NECA did a proper and accurate version of this character. Too bad they could not do the 3 Ghostbusters. I think they had issues with the rights for the sculpts.

NECA Stay Puff
Ohh....this is one big fellow. Standing at around 15" inch and made of roto-cast plastic.
NECA sculpted him with a menacing and evil look.
The paint ops is decent but NECA decided to use a light blue colour to highlight the lines around the face and folds on the arms and leg. I can live with it on the arms and legs but on the face...it just does not seem right and movie accurate.
No accessories for this one, maybe a few wreck cars would have been nice!

Overall, a cool figure. As I am a Ghostbusters fan, it's a must have.
I even did a paper toy for the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
